One thing he does not talk about, at least on that page, is sensor size. Yes, this has everything to do with image processing and all that, but to me it seems really important. I mean, if you have a 5MP camera with a 1/2.5" CCD sensor, it couldn't really be the same as a 5MP camera with a 22.5 x 15mm sensor. Take a look at this article from dpreview for more meat...
