thanks to all for the resesarch and good humor. i just found this...
"Some kids head-bang for relief when they are teething."
the little man is getting 4 molars at once.
perhaps banging the head is like when you hurt your foot and you bite your hand really hard so you don't feel how bad your foot hurts ?
