That would be the DS you're thinkin' of. It had some pretty sophisiticated hydraulics in the suspension, leading to an incredibly cushy ride - and reeeeeeally expensive parts... Citroen kept up the hydraulic suspension for a long time though. Even today they use it, I think, in some of their big cars...
