And just because the GPU is made by ATI (probably the Radeon) that doesn't mean that the control chips are, which is where most of the compatibility and support issues would arise.

And a test did confirm it. It's a Radeon 9800 NonPro standalone so I'm still pretty sure its built by ATi.
After installed the Dell drivers it worked amazingly. All DirectDraw and Direct3d test in DxDiag worked fine but when I tried to update to the latest ATi or Omega drivers, it goes back to the same problem I had before. So am I kinda screwed from now on with my driver choice because I know this never happened during atleast the first year of having this PC.
