I had a good friend that had almost this exact same problem. Only in her case she was trying to cover them up during a theatre production in which she was the female lead. She tried using stage-base to cover them and while it did lessen the color contrast and the noticablity of that the smooth look of the scars were still noticable, and it had a tendancy to sweat off. She ended up wearing a zip-up sweater backstgae but obviously that isn't going to work with you. I'd say base would be the best bet, but make sure to be careful about wiping it off and the like if you find one that works.
On a different note: If you ever need someone to talk to or anything drop me an e-mail through my profile or look me up on AIM (my screen name is also in my profile). I used to cut, haven't for some time now, but I know how tough it is to stop... Good Luck.
