DEI is having some fitful starts because of the crew changes. Note that Waltrip is doing better while Jr is lagging. That said, they are getting consistently higher each week and last week's finish had me cheering in the chair for both. (At one point in the driver to crew transmission, Jr yelled at them, 'I'm driving a piece of SHIT here!'.)
I still think the point system needs revision. Just seems that drivers need only finish a couple of times in the top 5 or 10 to be there for the season-note Kurt Busch's trophy last year-Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Jr all won more than he, but he placed more times-doesn't seem right somehow.
Too bad the truck series and Busch series don't get the crowds as much, but I think that will change. One thing Nascar is doing, albeit slowly, is bringing more into other type of racing as well as their own. Once you get going, you want more.
Finally, I have to rant about both tv and print news in that they do not cover Nascar as a sport very much. Warner Wolf, a former sportscaster, declared he did not consider motorsports a sport at all and did not enjoy even reporting on Indy. I'd put the fitness of these drivers against that of any ball player any day-and there's no controversies about steroids, hotel trysts or drug addiction.
Edit: Thanks, Art for bringing this to us.

(I had thought about it, but figured I'd just start some arguing with those that do not appreciate or understand the enjoyment we get out watching racing.) Having driven Bristol Speedway almost 2 years ago, I can truly appreciate the concentration, skill and stamina of these athletes. It amazes me.
