Understood. Thing is, it's becoming mass-media bigtime. I don't mind that too much because I think it deserves a place among other world-class American sports.
I enjoy the look of the races under the lights but I do actually prefer them on Sundays.
Give the new scene a chance, I'd say. It's high-tech man/machine matches no matter what. And these teams are operating under awesome pressures now that they're in the media spotlight.
But yeah, I enjoy regional and local racing too. Guess I can find something good to say about anything that involves fast-wheeled competition...
