i don't want to sound like a MS basher when i've never seen the thing in action, but...
it doesn't seem wise to segment your userbase into two major categories (those with the HD, and those w/out) right out of the starting gate. if a large percentage of the installed base gets the cheaper version (and i assume that will be true to some extent), then you are essentially hamstringing your developers into producing software for the the lesser of the two models.
guthmund, i had those same reservations (among others) about the psp.
even so, there is a decent chance i'll get the first next-gen console released, MS or otherwise.
