The Father may also not be able to abort due to legal or moral grounds, I know I would feel bad about a child of mine being raised without me (remember "legal aborting" is giving up all rights to the child), I am not religious however I know many guys who would also not abort their child even if they hated the mother because the sins of the mother are not the sins of the child.
