Hip hop artists often use aliases and nicknames. The name "Hovie" in the above quote is a reference to multiplatinum selling artist Jay-Z and one of his aliases. Part of the hip hop culture is to rap in a bragadocious or arrogant way. Jay-Z refers to himself as J-Hova (Jehovah aka God ~of rap~) at times. Anyway, Hovie is just a variant of that name.  |
