If it's going to cause a major embarassment at the beach, you could heavily bandage them or cast them. You need to make up a story to go along with it.
I know this will come as a SHOCK to people, but I've had some scars. The docs told me to keep them out of the sun and to apply vitamin E to them. Buy vitamin E pills, the squishy kind. Puncture them and squirt the vitimin-filled goo right onto the scars.
