Father Quadrial snaps out of his horrified reverie.
The wave of pain and suffering that comes from the people of the village was overwhelming.
But Vinoh's words brings him back to his duty.
Kneeling and raising his eyes to the heavens, the monk clasps his staff in his good hand.
His prayers to god and all the saints are long, beseeching mercy for the dead souls and blessings for the dead.
The circled cross appears at the top of his staff casting much needed light over the village.
The men and woman who up till now have been staring dull eyed at the fire where the bodies are burning, seem to take on new life.
The young woman who has pushed the headless body into the flames walks over to the group, seemingly unaware of the blood that spatters her clothes.
"Father, I thank you for your blessing but it will take a lot more then that to save our village. Perhaps the warriors in your party will be able to accomplish what we have not."
Pointing back at the inn she seems to revert to the daughter of an innkeeper that she once was, "It will take me a bit to clean up the place but when I do, you will have a place to stay the night, a good meal and some of the finest cider in the land."
