It's called alcohol dehydrogenase, and your gf doesn't make it. Basically her body doesn't break down alcohol, so she only gets rid of it through piss and sweat (vomit too if it comes to it). It's much more common in asians than any other group. There's also some microbe that tends to infect people with a high carbohydrate diet (i.e. rice) that produces low levels of alchohol as a byproduct - most people wouldn't ever notice it, but asians w/o alcohol dehydrogenase cop a perma-buzz.
