A book I read about 10 years ago, something named "dragonsbane" or very similar.

From what I remember it's about changlings who can morph between dragons/humans and such. There is also a girl in it who I don't think can do it.. but she ends up a slave of some sort and befriends the dragonkin. But they cast her out of the dragon town.

She ends up at a human town and becomes a sort of prostitute, (but a different name "conscript" or something)

I think she ends up being pregnant with someone she shouldnt have's child and runs away. But people chase her and she joins some elven/dwarf or something people who teach her magic. There ends up being a big war / battle, and the dragon she was friends with ends up helping her (as he has been watching her from the sidelines since she was cast out)












(Edit Now that I think about it, i think she knew magic long before the elves helped her "Refine" it, I think she knew it while with the dragonkin and thats the reason she became banished from them)
