You are a more trusting soul than I, archpaladin, to equate the level of one's conviction of the inspiration of scripture with the likelyhood of its accuracy...I guess I'm more jaded when it comes to the notion that people will get the message which was intended by God, much less wrestling with the issue of whether God wanted us to fully understand it all the time. The disciples were confused about the mission of Jesus, for example, and see also Mark 4:11-12 (now I've gone and made my head hurt).
That said, I concur that salvation and confusion about the literal truth and "real" meaning of scripture can coexist.
