thanks for the kind words...even though it is abandoned it is still owned by a group and is gonna be rebuilt slowly. When leaving, we got stopped by a lady who was the lawyer for the site and she was gonna chew us out, but after about 2 minutes she found out that I just wanted to take pictures and that we were respectful of the site, so she warmed up to us. Heres the history: It was originally built as a private mansion. Then, it was bought and used as a convent for nuns. Next, it was used as the campus for FIT (Florida Institute of Technology...never knew it ever existed), then, it was in some way affiliated with Evinrude motors. Now, it's just abandoned.
We didn't explore it completely, but the lady said that in one of the smaller buildings there are pentograms everywhere and melted candles in circles and such...because trespassers use it for santaria/satanism...that would have been awesome to get some pictures of. Oh well.
