Hitting that many nerves with a sharp object would be incredibly painful and could cause a loss of all sensitivity in that region, making it that much harder for women to enjoy that good stuff. That's why the piercer should be very experienced so they don't screw that up!

Yes, in fact they can pierce either or both. There are horizontal and vertical peircings of both. I do Tattoos, and the places that I have worked did peircings as well.
The reason that I suggest a hood ornament is because peircing the actual clit CAN actually cause loss of all feeling by severing the nerve. Some peircers simply will not do it. Most of the ones I have been around suggest the vertical hood peirce with a nice bar-ball, as it places one of the balls directly over the clit, and stimulates it when walking, moving, etc. It also has a tendancy to make the clit appear to grow a bit, which can make clit peircing easier later if desired. Do a search on Google, and do your research before you do anything like that and read some of the pros and cons. Body modification is not something that should be undertaken on a whim.
