Favorite scene! Arrgh! They're all so good.
Best I can do is to refer to my entries on "Recommend a Good Book" and cheat by saying that, the reasons that I recommended Zelazney was because every scene in Lord of Light is my favorite. Honest to god, the whole book is about powerful scenes. That's how it's written.
Dune only has a couple that rate: The post Gom Jabbar scene ("No, they tried and died."), Alia bantering with the Emperor. The opening Essay and the very last scene in Small Gods. Last scene in Watership Down always brings a tear to my eye.
There are a half dozen or so masterclass scenes throughout the Vlad Taltos books.
OK, I've well overrun my mandate. Sorry.
