small island fortress
Mods, I honestly forget if I already posted this. It didn't show up on a search, but I could have missed it. Please delete it if I did. Anyway...
A massive fleet of French battleships was coming up on a small, Pacific island controlled by the Irish during the little-known French-Irish war. The admiral sent out his best scout to check the fortifications.
The scout SCUBA'd ashore at midnight and searched for hours. When he finally returned, he announced to the admiral that there was only one Irish soldier within the fortress.
"Excellent!" exclaimed the admiral. "We attack at dawn!"
At dawn, the admiral watched as his men swarmed out of their ships and over the walls of the fortress. There was a moment of stunned silence, and then suddenly explosions, gunshots, screams, and flying bodies fill the air. Utter chaos ensues. One dreadfully wounded French soldier was thrown all the way back into the admiral's ship.
"Sacre Blu!" cried the admiral. "What happened?"
"Sir," gasped the soldier,"The scout was wrong. There were TWO of them!"
