Actually, birds are much more closely related to dinosaurs than any other group of living animals. In fact, you could say that birds
are dinosaurs. That's why in the original article the fossil cells are compared to those of a living ostrich, which is a bird not a reptile.
The only animals that are genetically transformable right now are mice and insects as far as I know.
