Have you tried uninstalling the DSL program to see if it fixes it? Most times you don't even need the programs that come with your kit, just the drivers.

That's what worked. Went in safe mode- did system restore before the dsl install and jusu went from there the modem recognized the computer even though "technically" the computer settings/date predate the dsl install.
