Thus the moral complication to these situations. . . how do you judge a persons worth? I disagree with broad ranging legislation to give funding to illegal immigrants, not just for school but for any tax funded program, but on the other hand I don't support discouraging students that are this intelligent and willing to work this hard.
Sadly telling the difference is extremely complicated and the line has to be drawn somewhere. I also don't believe that they're doing us a favor by coming into the country illegally to "pick our fruit and clean our houses." Granted, they will accept a lower pay, but by contrast the economics involved amplify existing problems. The rampant slums, substandard housing, and underfunded schools will only continue to get worse as these people that aren't directly contributing to our society put an additional drain on the often limited resources available.
Everybody deserves a chance, some start off from more difficult circumstances, but we all have to earn it for ourselves, otherwise what he have loses all meaning. School is expensive, that's why I'm not taking classes toward my degree, and were I to apply for government aid I would most likely be denied because of my parents financial situation. If it were that important though I have it within my power to make it happen. To pay my own way just as many of you have to, and because I did it myself it would be that much more rewarding.
