I've been online since 1990 and I have enjoyed meeting the diversity of people. I used to be a part of the personal sites and had a few meets but never anything I'd call spectacular, and quickly gave up on it. I spent those same early years enjoying people I'd met in chats or bulletin boards, with only social intentions in mind.
Of what must be thousands, by now, people I have met, I am fortunate to have found a handful well worth all the annoyances that one can find online.
I last meet someone from online in 1998.
I haven't been interested in it since, until recently. I'm looking forward to meeting fellow gamers at various, informal gatherings.
