My vote is on three possibilities for the end of mankind and a fourth possibility for our continued existense(for a while anyways):
1) A massive economic crash, or huge war, destroys most of modern society, pretty much everyone outside of a few third world countries dies(from starvation or radiation), and then those people wither away and die after a few generations.
2) We all get wiped out in a flash as a large meteor slams into the earth and vaporized 99/100 of the worlds human poplulation and the rest starve in the following ice age.
3)An alien race of an unfriendly nature spots our planet, thinks that it looks pretty, and wipes us off of its face so that their overlord can vacation on it once every 200 of our years.
4)An alien race of friendly disposition spots us, shares the ability to travel to the stars and the human race is able to expand continuously until one of the first three options happens to wipe us out on a stellar scale.
