Subsitute "Yankees" for "Lakers" and this is the type of crap I had to listen to after the D-backs won the world series.
The Lakers, like the Yankees, are not finished just because they didn't win the championship. They are still a team that on opening day, is a lock to go deep into the playoffs and that other teams have to figure out how to beat if they want to win it all.
Yanks are the same way. Just because they didn't win the last two series doesn't mean they aren't still the most dominant team in baseball. Look at their play this year and tell me that the rest of the AL, if not the NL too, isn't trying to figure out what they'll need to beat these guys. The Lakers have the luxury of knowing that they have a 1-2 that stack up as well or better than ANY other team's best 1-2. The onus is on the OTHER teams to beat them.
Congrats to San Antonio, they did it this time, like the D-backs and Angels. The correct question is, will THOSE teams be back next year? We know the Lakers will, the Yankees ARE, but the D-backs and Angels are below .500 right now.
