true, sony does have that available, but i didn't go with it for a number of reasons. one -- it only has upscaling through hdmi (not through component) and i didn't want to have to spend $150 on a 30' hdmi cable to run to my projector. two -- the ns975 is about $300 compared to the ns775 being only $130. three -- it's really not that great of an upconverting dvd player... i'd rather save up and get either a top-of-the-line denon or wait and get an hd-dvd player.
