External cleansing is a must. My SO and I both use Summer's Eve body wash for both the front and back. It's unscented, has no soap, and is relatively cheap.
If an unpleasant odor has developed, perhaps due to exercising or wearing pantyhose (which can trap moisture) or other factors, feminine wipes can take care of her just before getting intimate.
Internally, the vagina maintains itself quite adequately; externally it's user maintanence.
