I am thinking of buying an Averatec laptop.

Some specs:
Model: 6110-EH1
Mobile AMD Sempron 2800+, 1.6GHz
15.4 in. WXGA TFT display
802.11g Wireless
Dual DVD+/-RW Burner
512 MB DDR-SDRAM
80GB HD (unknown hd speed)
3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 IEEE 1394
$750 at CompUSA

I talked to the IT guy at my office, and he thought it seemed fine. Like many people, including myself until recently, he's not heard of Averatec. In searching reviews, I've found they get ratings of 6 or 7 out of 10. Most complaints are short battery life, loud hard drive, or dead pixels.

I'm not much of a technophile, but this seems like a good computer for the price. My hope is it would last at least 2 years.

Has anyone in TFPland purchased a similar setup to this Averatec, or another Averatec model that you'd like to share your experience with? Thanks for any info you may have.
