I sure seem to post about a lot of computer problems huh? None of which are my computer, but others that I have to fix.
A computer in my house that is used a lot by computer illiterate people, so its FULL of spyware, it ran so slow, taking literally minutes to open up my computer ( which I think, another reason for the slowness is the reason it isnt working now ). I go to reformat the computer, just like any other time, restart, boot from disk, as soon as I choose what to boot, the CD stops spinning and the screen goes blank, then it goes to the blue screen to where you start installing XP, but it just freezes. I'm thinking its a messed up hard drive. A little before that when I kept trying to get the computer to boot from the CD the hard drive was making an odd sound, and now this. You guys think it's the hard drive, or could it be something else?
I can go to boot, and not boot from disk and it just goes to the XP "blue screen of death".
The computer is an eMachines. 2.2GHz Celeron, 256MB PC2700 RAM, 1 40GB HD. That's all. No cards, onboard video and sound.
