Oh man, I haven't played CS for like 2 years. I think I lost so oftern because the people I was playing with/against played the game for at least 8 or 9 hours a day. I couldn't compete with that kind of devotion. Agreed on the verticle synchro diagnosis. Unless you have an older monitor.
