I watched The Daily Show fairly regularly when Kilborn was the host. I enjoyed some of the side segments more (I LOVED Beth Littleford's celebrity interviews) then. I also enjoyed that the show covered politics but wasn't a political show, which is more of what TDS is about now. Five Questions was always a highlight, and Kilborn was naturally funny and quick on his feet.

That being said - Kilborn's natural style rubbed me the wrong way. I felt he was always just a little too snarky for my tastes. His cocky attitude made it hard for me to really feel like I was "in" on the joke. I have been a Jon Stewart fan for years, and I was really happy to hear he was taking over the show. I think he does a great job. Half of the humor comes not from the segments, but from his facial reactions to the segments. That's extremely hard work. He clearly can hold his own with just about any guest, be it celebrity or political pundit.

He has worked very hard to get The Daily Show to be "his" show, and he deserves all the success he has received. In addition, he does deliver "real" news (it gets on my nerves when he pretends like they are merely a comedy show, with no truth to its stories/opinons), and he delivers it in a truly accessible way. His presence is what makes The Daily Show much better now than it was with Kilborn.
