It is incredibly disingenuous to imply that the belief that the Bible ought not be taken literally is tantamount to calling God a liar. And, while this is *clearly* poetry, one can give many examples of poetic language that is not so obviously so. In fact, while it may not be clear to us now, the language in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, is quite poetic in the Hebrew language. Taking a translation of a translation literally brings up whole other issues that I won't even bother to get into because, frankly, they're obvious.
