I love Corvallis, Oregon because it has a lot of "big town" comforts with a "small town" feel. We have a Pac-10 university, we have three (soon to be four) movie theaters, shopping, a vibrant downtown, a healthy arts scene, a great local music scene, awesome ethnic restaurants, and some really rockin' bars--all in a town of about 50,000 residents. We're an hour (or less) from the Oregon Coast and about two hours from skiing. We're forty minutes from Eugene, forty minutes from Salem and an hour and a half from Portland.
Not only is it a college town, it's a town of stately homes, enormous oaks, fantastic parks, and beautiful scenery.
I'm going to have a really hard time leaving when all is said and done. I feel like I've really put down roots here over the last five years, and if I have to move to Eugene after I graduate I'm going to be very sad.
