Why I love where I live...
I live in NYC.
Last night I had the good fortune to attend something very special. I went to see a screening of the King & I fully restored in glamorous CinemaScope55. I was excited to see this print because of it being one of the widest and largest formats. Originally I had confused it with Cinerama which I had the chance to see in LA but just was too lazy to bother.
The theater was a small screening room holding a hundred or so people. Two director's chairs stood to the right side of the screen at the foot of a 20 foot golden Oscar. A person came up to talk a bit about Marni Nixon, and called her the "ghostess with the mostest" since she went uncredited for the dubbing of people like Deborah Kerr and Katherine Hepburn. We watched a montage of her performances, one on camera one for Sound of Music. He then introduced her and she stood up from the audience and came and did a little Q&A session and talked about the secrecy of the studios back in the 50's.
So why do you love to live where you do?
