I like notepad++ from sourceforge....every single file I can right-click and select notepad++ and it opens it up as a text file. Very useful. I also use it for perl programming.
And I use graphcalc from sourceforge for graphing equations for reports and such. I wish excel had the option for graphing equations, but it only seems to be able to do best fit lines on my data...maybe I just dont know how to do it.
