The Cardiacs

I've recently gotten into this group, Cardiacs, after being utterly blown away by their "Guns" album. Now I've just obtained three more of their albums - "Sing to God, Part 2" (part 1 is on the way), "Songs for Ships and Irons", and "On Land and In The Sea".

I can best describe their style as a fusion of progressive rock, punk, and just plain random wackiness. Its really hard to give an accurate description - often it feels like someone is twiddling the tuning knob on the receiver, making their music change rapidly. Better to hear for yourself.

They have quite a few good tracks for download here: http://www.cardiacs.com/sounds.html

Heartily recommended. Anyone know other bands with such "twistedness"?
