Heh, i was really into ddr for about a year.. about 3 years or so ago. It seems like the fad has kind of worn off- by now i think anyone with mild exposure to pop culture has seen or heard of ddr. Not nearly as cool as it was a few years ago, but definitely still fun once in a while. In general though, I'd have to say there are a few negative stereotypes associated with ddr, especially when you see a really fat white kid that probably watches lots of anime and knows more japanese than he should playing ddr.
Recently i have gotten into the game called o2jam, originally korean, but most of the people that play it are malaysian or otherwise se asian. It's more like beatmania, but it still carries the same basic theory of ddr, press buttons when they get to the bottom of the screen (or top).
