Before their venture into games, Nintendo had such interesting venues as a by-the-hour Love Hotel, instant portioned rice and a taxi company.
The original playing cards produced by Nintendo back in the late 1800's were put into such heavy use by the Yakuza that production couldn't keep up with demand.
