Blazers Coach Cheeks Canned
After compiling a record of 22 wins-33 losses, Maurice Cheeks was finally canned as coach of the Portland Trail Blazers. You see, SMART team managers replace their head coaches sooner rather than later. For example, the Timberwolves, Grizzlies, and Nuggets all replaced their coaches during or before January and all three teams have turned their seasons around. Of course, as we all know, Blazers management isn’t exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. There are only 82 games in a season (not counting the playoffs, which are completely out of the question at this point) and 55 games is SLIGHTLY, every so barely past the halfway point. This reminds me of Juan Alvarez, the genius who parked his truck on train tracks in order to commit suicide. Mr. Alvarez changed his mind but left the truck on the train tracks, causing the deaths of 11 people and injury to 200+ after the ensuing train collision. Blazers management is doing the same thing here: it’s too late to make the playoffs but let’s piss off the small remaining fan base by firing the poor but well-liked sap with less than a third of the season left to go! I’m getting the distinct feeling that Blazers owner Paul Allen is telling the management to fuck up the Blazers as badly as they possibly can so that he can get a tax deduction.
