If you were "blown away" by the Klipsch demo at CEDIA last year, you should have checked out the Runco/Krell room. We had to wait like 45 minutes to get in, but god was it worth it. I used to be a Klipsch dealer and have installed many flagship systems (RF-7 fronts, RC-7 center, RS-7 surrounds and dual RSW-15 subs...) and believe you me... that Krell setup literally humbled anything I have ever heard from Klipsch. The speakers used in the front were the LAT-1's and those alone are $37,500. There were Krell Master Reference electronics used all the way around. The total sound system cost was probably well over $200,000. Add in a flagship Runco projector and room treatment. And oh yeah, some pretty scary motion simulators from D-Box. Their system sells for $20,000 and includes 4 acutators and a controller. There were 2 acutators in each seat, and each can produce up to 2 G's of force. There were 16 chairs in the room. It was literally like nothing I have ever heard before.
If I were to build my dream system, I would go all Meridian. I'd do a pair of DSP7000's up front, a DSP5500HC center, and DSP33's for rears. For electronics I would probably do a G98 DVD-Audio transport and a G68 processor.
