30 minutes to boil sliced potatoes? 15 should be far more than enough unless youre cooking a huge pot for a whole family. i do one inch cubes and they take about 10 minutes of boiling to be done. slices shouldnt be any different. theyre done when you can poke a fork in them with no effort....30 minutes is not needed for that

you must be making an assload at a time. i make enough for 4 servings usually and 5 minutes is plenty of time to peel and cut 6 or 8 potatoes( you *are* using a peeler right?) with 10 to boil, and another 5 to drain/mash. figure another 7-10 minutes to double that.
