I started looking around for a gym membership here in town ~ a year and a half ago. We have a couple of Gold's gyms here that get constant in your face marketing, so I went to check it out. I walk in and ask for a tour of the place, not to bad.. the maintenance could have been better, but it was right across the street from my office so I could over look that. Then the sales pitch started. I now classify a corporate gym sales man along the same lines as used car sales man.
I ended up going to the nicer gym down the road that’s run by the local hospital. Yeah, it was ~$5-$10 more a month, but the place is much cleaner, has a pool, and best of all I wasn’t told that "you got to be committed to your body and sign this 12 month contract with us or your self esteem is going to suck" (which is basically what I got out of the nice sales man at Gold’s).
