Seeing as I'm playing through VII right now (the only thing I have left to do is to park the Highwind next to the N. Cave and fight) I'm obligated to say VII.
X is good, but damn the animatics are way too damn long at times. I feel as if I'm watching a damn movie at times (sometimes good, sometimes bad thing).
I also have Dawn of Souls, and I'm about 60% through I, and I've just scratched the surface of II. They're alright, but my beef against I is that it's too easy to get lost in your quest (maybe its just me), and there are waaay too many random battles (I know that's not just me).
I'll probably go pick up IX next, I've heard mixed reviews on VIII. Going from VII back down to NES's I and II is tough, I think I'm too used to the 3D realm of RPGs now.
