How does mass affect the orbit??? Aren't gravity and centrifugal force the only forces acting on the planet (on a scale that matters anyway)? So
m_p*v^2/R=G*m_s*m_p/R^2. You can cancel out the m_p (mass of the planet), which makes the equation independent of the planets mass.
v^2=G*m_s/R.
