I have set up the beginning of a keeper league, limited to 8-10 teams.
This league will consist of a salary cap of $100,000,000 for each season (monies (under 10 Mill) not used in a season can be added to the next season's cap).
Each owner picks a team and bids once (in millions) on it. Highest bid takes the team and the players on the team, all minor league players. (But the bid price counts against your cap.)
example: I bid 10,000,000 for the REDS and win. I get the REDS roster BUT the 10 mill comes off my cap. I have 90 mill to spend now.
After every owner has picked a team, we then drop those players we wish and start bidding on F/A..... this includes MULTI-YEAR DEALS, however, each year added on player MUST recieve at least a $1 mill raise.
(These contracts are not guaranteed and at the end of each season the owner may "buy out" the remaining contract and that "buy out is subtracted from the next season's cap. (1/2 of the salary the next season.... 1/3 for the 3rd year.... 1/4 for the 4th year and so on)
1 bid F/A goes to highest bidder......that includes MULTI-YEAR DEALS.....
Example: Player X bids on Brian Giles 3 years worth 21 mill..... 5 mill this year, 6 mill next and 10 mill in the last year. Player Y bids 13 mill for 2 years.... 5 mill this year 8 mill next..... Player Z bids 7 Mill just for 1 year.
Player X wins because of the 3rd year and the highest pay offered.
The bidding process: after teams are bought owners will have 3 days to drop any player they wish. On the 4th day the bidding begins and lasts 3 days.
Afterward, you may pick-up and drop whoever you like (to a 1 year contract). However every drop costs 1 million and every pick up requires a contract bid that must be posted for 1 day. If noone else bids that player is then yours..... IF another owner bids then you may counter offer 1 time per owner bidding.
example: Player X wants to pick up Kip Wells, so he bids 3 Mill..... Player Y decides he wants Wells and bids 3.5 .... Player X then has the choice of whether to out bid or to forfeit Wells to Y. Player X bids 4 mill and gets Wells.
After the season: players on the original team that go into F/A go into F/A in this league. However, the owner has last bid and as long as he can match the dollars and years he may reserve that F/A.
Example: Player X has the REDS Adam Dunn goes F/A, the other owners bid, Player X matches the highest bid, Player X keeps Dunn.
Salaries: ALL PLAYERS (NOT DROPPED) ON THE TEAM DRAFTED MAKE $1 MILLION/ THIS SEASON.....
There will be a website to keep track of sal caps/ trades/ FA/ owners issues.
