Sony has never done anything with DLP technology. They are making LCD projection sets though. They are also doing something with the LCoS technology which they call SXRD. I haven't see one of these yet, but I really want to.
And on the DVD player, wait till you see what a
real upconverting DVD player can do. I would almost swear that Spiderman 2 on a Denon DVD-3910 looks HD.
I didn't touch on the Def Tech mythos speakers because they are probably too big for her application. Those babies sound amazing though!
