Yeah. DM wanted to get us through the early levels. I expect he'll slow down once we're around 5th or 6th level. I'm trying to do the same thing in my campaign, but based on the last few sessions, I think I'll slow down earlier. It would be good to increase player satisfaction in ways other than XP.
As an aside, by playing so much in other campaigns, I'm really learning what
not to do in my own. I'm really learning the importance of choosing the correct challenge, pacing, and using the rules as a way to keep things fair rather than as a crutch. I'm learning that die rolling and rules do not a good game make. Those things should be known well by the DM in order to keep them in the background, but then, I'm preaching to the converted...
