OK, first thing's first: I love the Lakers (well, most of them). I live in Atlanta, and no self-respecting person would cheer on the Hawks.
I don't see how anyone can prod Kobe or anyone else after having lost (or won, for that matter). To these guys, it isn't just basketball; it's a lot more than that. They aren't crying over bonuses missed or trophy spots left empty; this is something that they kill themselves for the entire year - not just during the season.
As someone who's played sports his entire life, I can completely understand it, and, truth be told, I have also broken down after games. The absolute hardest thing to take is to see the biggest guy you know cry like a little girl in the middle of a football field after a championship game.
Cut the man a little slack.
