i have the vonage linksys router inside the router i had previously (which also happens to be linksys). so here's my setup:

Code:

cable modem 
  > router 
    > port 1 = my computer
      port 2 = my brother-in-law's computer
      port 3 = family room computer
      port 4 = vonage linksys router 
      > port 1 = xbox (sometimes i plug my work laptop in here instead)
        phone 1 = telphone jack (after disconnecting line from telco)

by doing it this way, i didn't have to change any of my port forwarding settings on my router and BTs work and all that. i don't believe i even had to set anything on my router to allow traffic to get to the vonage router.

so far, it's worked OK for me. i dunno if this setup is not as secure as what they're recommending, but this just seemed like the best way to keep it simple.
