The "I was just following orders" defense always seemed like a good defense to me. Like the prosecutor pointed out to Mr. Emery's father "God hope we never lose a war". I agree with Mr. Emery that these words have meaning now more than ever.
I don't agree that soldiers should be held responsible for obeying orders like we held the German soldiers like Dostler after WWII. One of these days it could be our sons and daughters on trial. Just imagine all the various scenarios they could be held accountable for in the course of war by just obeying orders.
